Student Leaders
The purpose of the Junior Council is to build a strong foundation for future Greek involvement by introducing new members to the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils. This experience encourages members to participate in council operations, leadership development and planning events. Many members of the Junior Greek Council go on to run for positions on the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils as well as chapter leadership positions.
The very first Junior Council at Colorado State was installed on February 13th 2008, operating with 33 sorority and fraternity members.
Positions included in the JGC are president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer.
The Junior Council is overseen and advised by the Vice Presidents of Leadership in Development from the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils and staff from the Greek Life Office.
Examples of events and programs sponsored by the JGC include the Greek Olympics, the All Campus and Community BBQ, bowling fundraisers and the Winter Ball.
Junior Council is open to freshman and sophomores in fraternity and sorority chapters who are interested in learning more about the Greek Governing Councils and leadership development.
Applications for interested members will be available at the beginning of the Fall Semester in the Greek Life Office.
