Course Description
This class is designed as an introductory leadership development course
that facilitates an examination of leadership in the context of Fraternity and Sorority life. Emphasis is placed on understanding your personal traits, values, characteristics and developmental tasks as a foundation for continued leadership development.
Course Goals and Learning Outcomes
The overall goal of this course is to gain a greater sense of self awareness as a
foundation for developing leadership skills. The emphasis is on exploring
foundational traits, values, characteristics and developmental tasks needed to perform
effectively as a leader. This course also provides a framework that focuses on ethics
and ethical leadership.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
· Understand multiple definitions and concepts of leadership
· Understand the personal characteristics you possess which prepare you for leadership
· Identify areas in which you feel you need to improve your leadership style
· Recognize your role and the role of others within organizational leadership models
· Learn how to utilize acquired knowledge and skills in real-life situations
· Understand various methods of how to manage conflict, build consensus and communicate effectively - verbally and in writing
